How it works

Footballers have been kicking footballs against walls to improve skills since the game was invented. In fact, many footballers will recall how they developed their skills by kicking a football against a wall for hours on end. The great attraction of this is that the ball remains in play and the players get a lot of practice by repeatedly shooting, passing, volleying and heading the ball against the wall. Since the development of football training aids, the use of rebound boards and net rebounders have been quite common and useful.

Vital for this practice is the speed of the ball. In the modern game, the speed of play is a critical aspect to the success of a player. Where the Rebound Box products are different is in the use of a patented design technology for the rebound surface.

Rebound nets rely on the energy in their elastic to rebound the ball, while the ball is rebounded it can lose pace as energy is lost to the net itself. Wooden or plastic panels will also rebound balls but energy is lost as the boards move and the material absorbs the ball's strike. Rebound Box products are different!!

Every player is aware that a toe poked ball seems to travel faster and further than a kick using the side of the boot. This is because the ball surface is stretched further as the boot jabs into the ball, this elasticity adds energy to the kick and therefore causes the ball to travel faster and further.

In simple terms this is exactly what the surface of the Rebound Box reproduces. The scientifically derived ridged pattern of the Rebound Box panel jabs in to the ball and causes the ball to be punched away from the surface. The unique design means that two ridges will always jab into the ball, increasing the surface area of the ball that is being stretched, and therefore the energy that is transferred in to the rebound.

Additionally, the rebound panel is fixed in the unit in such a way that the rebound panel gives a "trampoline effect" when the ball strikes it which adds further energy to the rebounded ball.

These effects coupled with the different angles of the Rebound Box mean that a ball comes off the face quickly and at varying heights and trajectories.

The Rebound Box products are based on technology covered in UK patent application 0805788.7 and UK Design applications 4007139 & 4007140.
